Hello fellow GCC members.  Please note the upcoming April events at San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park:
  • Wed, Apr 4, 7:30 PM: Moonlight bicycle ride: To see the park at night, the Friends of San Felasco CSO (Citizen Support Organization) sponsors quarterly night bike rides on the Wednesday closest to the full moon. Night rides require that you provide your own primary lights for off-road duty: the brighter, the better. You should also carry a back-up light in case of emergency. Primary lights should be capable of a minimum burn time of two hours. The park entry fee is waived, but a $5.00 donation is requested for each rider who is not a CSO member. This event is free for CSO members. Note that anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Rides leave from the CSO building at park headquarters (12720 NW 109th LN, Alachua). See below for directions.
  • Sat, Apr 14, 9 AM to noon: Trails workday in celebration of Earth Day: The trails are built and maintained by volunteers. Typical work days include clearing and maintaining existing trails, and improving the park's facilities. After the workday, lunch is provided. Bring small hand tools if you have them (loppers, pruning shears, hand saws) and gloves, sunscreen, bug repellent, water bottle, and good humor! Meet at the CSO building at park headquarters (12720 NW 109th LN, Alachua). See below for directions.
  • Tue, Apr 24, 7:30 PM: CSO Board meeting (business meeting) at the CSO building at park headquarters (12720 NW 109th LN, Alachua). See below for directions.

Directions: From Gainesville: Go north on CR 241 and just after the I-75 overpass, turn right on NW 109th Lane. Go 1.1 miles on NW 109th Lane to a break in a black 4 rail fence on the left (east) side of the road. At the official state park sign, turn left. Drive past a horse paddock and pole barn to the metal CSO building. From Alachua: Go south on CR 241 until just before the I-75 overpass. Turn left on NW 109th Lane and continue as above.

Hope to see you in the park!
