From Commissioner Bottcher . . .

A call to action on 8th Ave and a reminder that we are now facing a 4-3 reversal on that repaving project. It could easily return to four lanes.

Hi all;

I think it is and I will continue to do so…but I need your help.

As you probably saw in today's Sun there is a short letter to the editor against the 2 lane design of 8th Ave:
http://www.gainesville.com/article/20140531/OPINION02/140539941/1077/opinion?p=all&tc=pgall&tc=ar

I posted a response online (its also on Facebook), but its important that other citizens who support 2 lanes w/ bike lanes also write in.
Its also important these LTEs actually make it in the print version of the paper, not just online.

Please take a few moments to write a short (150 words or less) LTE and email it to the Sun  with why you support the new design, why its good for the community, etc. Even if you've already sent such a letter to the Sun, send another version of it again!

Email it here: http://www.gainesville.com/article/99999999/MULTIMEDIA/69514377?template=art_plain

And, be sure to also email it to the full city commission: citycomm@cityofgainesville.org
It would be great if you could blind cc it to me - or email it to me separately since I am keeping a file on all support for the 2 lanes.

Clearly the "campaign" for 8th Ave has begun. With Craig Carter now in the District 3 seat - significant since 8th Ave runs through the center of that district - he, Braddy & Chase are hoping they can swing a fourth vote out of Yvonne Hinson-Rawls to return that 7/10 of a mile back to a four-paned drag strip.

Our campaign must being now too.

Thanks,
Susan
