Two bicycle helmet fitting events, volunteers welcome (no experience needed).

1. Tomorrow – Friday, November 22, 2019 at Talbot Elementary (Between 7:45 AM – 1:45 PM)…Bring driver’s license I.D. to front office for scanning and check-in.

2. Mid-December – Saturday morning event where City of Gainesville employees celebrate the holidays by adopting needy families in the community via identified social service programs and their clients. The event usually includes about 50 or so bicycles that need assembly, attachments such as lights and bells, tires pumped and bike helmets fitted at the event.

You can help:

• New bicycle purchase/donations for the event (various child, youth and teen sizes)
• Help assembling bicycles as the event approaches
• Help pumping tires as the event approaches
• Help attaching accessories to the bike (i.e. lights, bells, etc.) as the event approaches

Help with fitting bicycle helmets:

Those *certified to fit bike helmets can fit, otherwise we need assistance with:

1. Head measure station…measure head in inches so we know the size bike helmet to get.
2. Packaging…Remove helmet only out of bag to prepare for fitting, hand bag and helmet to student.
3. Helmet prep…Placing helmet on head without adjusting or moving any straps or buckles (certified fitters will adjust helmet)
4. *Certified Fitter…Confirm helmet placement, adjust and fasten helmet to heads

*Must be a current certified bicycle helmet fitter through the UF Pedestrian and Bicycling Safety Resource Center (PBSRC)
