The Florida Bicycle Association appreciates all the efforts from our members who support our legislative platform and engaged their elected officials to support HB 107 and SB 76 this past session.
FBA has been an active member of the FL DNT TXT N DRV coalition, a grassroots effort of over 80 organizations to make Texting While Driving a primary offense. Last year the initiative died in Senate committee. Today, May 17, 2019, the Governor made it a law!
A thank you to the Governor and the bill sponsors was made personally by FBA executive director Becky Afonso, who attended the bill signing ceremony this morning in Sarasota.
We know this law isn't perfect, but it's more than what we currently have and for that, we are thankful to all who made it possible. We also know our work in Tallahassee will continue. On behalf of the FBA Board of Directors, THANK YOU for your support as we keep fighting the good fight.
Ride Leader / Ride Marshal Public Session
FBA is proud to announce that REGISTRATION IS OPEN for our next public Ride Leader / Ride Marshal certification program. The date is Saturday, June 22, from 11:30AM - 4:30PM at the Center for Urban Transportation Research in Tampa at the University of South Florida. Only $20 for FBA Members and $35 for Non-Members. FBA Annual Membership Meeting
Calling all FBA members and cycling friends! Our annual membership meeting will be held THIS SUMMER on Saturday, July 27, from 1pm - 4pm at the St. Petersburg Library auditorium. This event is FREE and open to the public.
Our Keynote Speaker will be Whit Blanton, Executive Director of Forward Pinellas. We will also feature a presentation from FBA Business member Angco Striping of Longwood (featured in our summer Messenger - they install green bike lanes and other road treatments!).
