Greetings, GCC friends,
It’s time for GCC’s next quarterly Adopt-A-Road Cleanup of roadside litter along N. Main ST, happening on Saturday, May 25th at 10:00.
A minimum of SIX more volunteers are needed. The more volunteers, the faster the cleanup. We have been able to finish in under 2 hours in the past when we have at least six volunteers.
We will meet in the parking lot of the Main ST Publix Shopping Center at 09:45, and the cleanup will commence as close to 10:00 as possible. I will have a sign-in sheet for volunteers.
We will be at the south end of the parking lot, near NW 10th AVE and Zaxby’s, more or less across Main ST from Daylight Donuts.
DO NOT park in front of Publix. We will be at the opposite end of the parking lot.
We will complete a sign-in sheet, and have a brief safety talk prior to dividing up into teams to pick up litter along both sides of N. Main ST, between 8th AVE and 39th AVE.
Safety vests, trash grabbers, and trash bags will be provided. Wear closed-toed shoes and bring your own pair of work gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat. A water bottle and a snack are highly recommended. You are encouraged to ride your bike to the cleanup, but you should come prepared to lock your bike securely somewhere in the shopping center during the cleanup.
Thank you to everyone who has come out to help out with our regularly scheduled litter pickups on behalf of Keep Alachua County Beautiful, which not only help keep the public right-of-way clean, but also help promote GCC and cycling.
Call or email me directly, if you wish to volunteer. Feel free to call with questions, too.
I hope to see you there!
