Current conditions John Hadden 28 Jan 2017 14:16 EST

Hi CHSA skiers (and those who’d like to…)

Just returned from a ski that included Bear Scat, Big Baldy, Upper Crow’s Foot, Crow’s Foot extension, whatever the trail is that connects the Challenge Trail to the Lion’s Ridge junction (may I suggests "Bear Claw" as there’s a great beech tree with serious claw marks on it…), Upper Woodchuck Ramble, new Lower Woodchuck Ramble, and Gullywhumper. Conditions are really pretty good all things considered. There’s a 3”-ish base of firm snow with about an inch of powder on it. Reports from Lion’s Ridge today indicate even more snow up there. Skiing was fun and smooth in most places, though water bars and other hobgoblins are present. I don’t recommend the new Lower Woodchuck Ramble as it’s quite boney. But it’s skiing and not nearly as bad as I thought it’d be! Get on out there!

Cheers, John
