Habitat Restoration & Landscape Construction Foreman
Wildscape Restoration (Wildscape) is a small environmental consulting firm located in Ventura, CA. Wildscape focuses primarily on mitigation activities associated with development projects as well as habitat restoration. A portion of the work that Wildscape conducts is in an office environment and a portion of the work is actual field work which is overseen by a working Foreman. Field work consists of non-native plant removal, native plant installation, irrigation installation in challenging and remote locations and maintenance of the site after plant installation.
Wildscape is looking to hire a Foreman who has education equivalent to a B.S in Horticulture or a minimum of three (3) or more years of experience managing projects and personnel in a similar setting. Strong organizational skills are highly desired as it is common to have numerous projects occurring at once. The ability to review and understand narrative project descriptions as well as design drawings is required. Computer skills with experience in MS Office applications are required. Ability to speak Spanish is desired. The ability to operate heavy equipment is highly desirable.
Essential Job Duties:
· Manage project scheduling, productivity and quality of workmanship.
· Supervise and monitor crews. Establishes daily priorities and assigns work to crews and individuals. Act as intermediary between crew and management.
· Understands the contractual obligations as outlined in the Scope of Work for each job site and directs the work of the crew accordingly.
· Inspects work in progress and upon completion for compliance with regulatory requirements.
· Prepare project specific training materials and hold project tailgate meeting as it relates to project initiation and safety.
· Resolves client complaints, concerns and technical problems in a timely manner. Reviews monitoring reports and takes action on improvement items required.
· Investigates and reports project problems to the managing staff
· Recommends solutions to operational and technical problems to the managing staff.
· Recommends and orders materials, supplies, and equipment in accordance with company purchase policy.
· Checks and verifies crew time cards for correct work orders, project/site numbers, and task numbers, and hours worked each day for each job.
· Collects crews' material use reporting (chemical, fertilizer, irrigation) and water meter readings.
· Prepares cost estimates and scopes of work for installation and maintenance contracts.
· Maintains project tasks at or under project budget.
· Reports any injury or illness immediately to the supervisor and the Human Resources Department.
Job Experience:
Required Landscaping Experience 3 years or more
Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a clean driving record.
Must obtain or currently have a Landscape Technician Certification and/or demonstrate equivalent knowledge. Must obtain or currently have a Qualified Applicator's Certificate or License.
Additional certifications desired: Irrigation Design/Installation/Maintenance, Erosion Control, Stormwater Pollution Prevention, or Licensed Arborist
