THE BULLETIN                      timely news from the SFBJV    April 4, 2018  Climate Change Policy White Paper   Available now for You!   We are pleased to share with you a new resource that our Government Affairs Committee has been developing over the past year.  Our climate change policy white paper synthesizes ongoing climate change planning processes that are occurring within the SFBJV boundaries while identifying priority agencies and processes and focusing on those where the SFBJV can have the greatest impact toward achieving our goals.   The paper specifically calls out time sensitive opportunities for regulatory and policy discussions that would impact restoration activities throughout the region and highlights where the SFBJV can be most effective in order to influence these planning processes and policy changes.   We thank Brenna Mahoney for serving as lead author.  You will find it here, along with many other valuable reports and conservation planning tools housed on our Resources page.   To ensure that the JV is well- represented in key climate change planning processes, we will rely on our partners' engagement.  If you already participate in any of these processes or would like to, please contact SFBJV Coordinator Beth Huning. Wetland Restoration IS Working - Video Short #6  The Laguna de Santa Rosa  In case you missed our announcement last week we just completed our sixth video short in the "wetland restoration IS working" series.  Check it out if you haven't already and thanks to the many of you who have been sharing it in your newsletters and on your websites and other venues ... really!  We love seeing these get around and couldn't do it without you!  You can find our latest creation also on the JV website, Youtube, Vimeo and our Facebook Page.     Is a Long Term Management Strategy (LTMS) workshop in your future? On April 26, LTMS Agencies will host a workshop for stakeholders interested in how and why the Long Term Management Strategy for Placement of Dredged Sediment in the Bay Region was formed along with issues it has addressed.  Partnering agencies will also present and answer questions about how navigation dredging is managed in the Bay, what the beneficial reuse goals are, and permitting measures that are currently being implemented.   Presenters include: The Dredged Material Management Office (DMMO) will present their Database containing dredged sediment, physical, chemical and biological data, and query tools that are useful for project analysis.   The San Francisco Bay Joint Venture and the San Francisco Estuary Institute will present SediMatch - the internet tool intended to help match those of you who have dredged sediment with those who need it to perform wetland restoration and other beneficial uses. Might we see you on April 26?  Find more details here.   Grants with Deadlines    By April 8 Climate Adaptation Fund The Climate Adaptation Fund provides grant awards to non-profit conservation organizations for applied, on-the-ground projects focused on implementing priority conservation actions for climate adaptation at a landscape scale By April 11 Environmental Education Grants EPA seeks grant proposals from eligible applicants to support environmental education projects that promote environmental awareness and stewardship and help provide people with the skills to take responsible actions to protect the environment. By April 11 Urban Greening Grant The Urban Greening Program is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide program that puts billions of cap-and-trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy and improving public health and the environment-particularly in disadvantaged communities. By April 16 Explore the Coast The purpose of this grant program is to support activities that allow more people to explore California's spectacular coast, improve the visitor experience or help the public learn about natural, recreational, cultural & historic coastal resources. By April 26 Acres for America Acres for America is the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation's (NFWF) premier land conservation program, and was established to provide urgently needed funding for projects that conserve important large-scale habitats for fish, wildlife, and plants through land acquisitions and perpetual conservation easements. In By May 1 Patagonia Environmental Grants Patagonia funds only environmental work and is most interested in providing grants to organizations that identify and work on the root causes of problems and that approach issues with a commitment to long-term change By May 4 Multistate Conservation Grant Program The Multistate Conservation Grant Program (MSCGP) funds projects that address regional or national level priorities of state fish and wildlife agencies. By May 11 2018 Better Together Resilient Communities PG&E will award four individual grants of $100,000 to grant proposals that address local resilience to climate change particularly those that will help communities prepare for increased frequency and severity of extreme heat events. By May 18 Natural Resource Conservation Service Easement program NRCS is directing resources toward the restoration of degraded wetlands, floodplains, forestlands, and associated uplands.
