Subject: GGNRA Trail Internship Positions

Hello,

I would like the following descriptions for the Trail Stewardship and Trail Construction and Maintenance Internships in the GGNRA with the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy to be mailed out on your listserve. Thank you.

Trail Stewardship Internship

Are you interested in working on trails with a diverse audience in the Golden Gate National Parks

through a community-based volunteer program? If, so join the crew!

Overview

The Golden Gate National Park’s Trail Crew and Park Stewardship program work with Trails Forever, a park wide initiative, to engage and sustain a vibrant community of stewards in the restoration of trails within the Golden Gate National Parks. With over 80,000 acres of parkland scattered throughout three counties, the Golden Gate Trail Crew plays a vital role in the park visitor experience. Interns help maintain a world-class trail system, with the understanding that active engagement in the parklands leads to a deeper appreciation of their value.

Trail Stewardship Interns will lead community volunteers on projects and provide education on importance of trails and park resources; together helping to obtain the trail goals of the park. By working with both National Park Service staff and Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy staff, the Trail Stewardship Interns will assist with maintenance of key trails, while benefiting the community that uses these trails. Most importantly, as an intern, you will be an integral part of the diverse and fun Park Stewardship team, and will obtain an in-depth understanding of the values of the park system through shared experiences, workshops, and ongoing dialogue.
