The Yolo County Resource Conservation District is seeking applications for a highly motivated, self-directed and enthusiastic Project Manager for restoration and conservation activities on public and private lands. Background

The Yolo County Resource Conservation District (RCD) is a non-regulatory special district that works to protect, improve and sustain natural resources through information and technical assistance programs. Ongoing projects promote natural resource conservation in relation to farming and ranching operations and urban and rural conservation issues that are consistent with Yolo County’s general plan. The RCD is heavily grant funded with programs focusing on invasive weed control, water quality protection, habitat restoration, food safety and reducing soil erosion, as found in the RCD’s strategic plan on the website.

Summary of the Position

The RCD is seeking a dynamic, dedicated conservation professional who has a strong interest in working on conservation projects in an agricultural community. This person will coordinate, organize and conduct all activities of specific projects based on the project scope of work, including managing the project budget, purchasing materials and supplies, coordinating field activities, coordinating with other RCD staff, collecting data, writing reports and submitting invoices, contributing to other general RCD work and assisting other staff as needed. Specific projects include planning and implementing habitat enhancements and interpretive features at Capay Open Space Park, implementing weed management and riparian restoration on Cache Creek, and involvement in restoration implementation and establishment activities on several ongoing projects on public and private land that include native pollinator hedgerows, riparian restoration, stormwater drainage structures and agricultural field borders. Candidates must embrace a problem-solving approach to resource management and enjoy working with partners and clients with different perspectives, priorities and temperaments. Field and office work is split about 60/40. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of agricultural practices and experience in restoration planning and native vegetation management.

Position Information

This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, for a 12 month term with potential to continue dependent on project workload. Salary is $21-$28.34 per hour (commensurate with qualifications and experience). The RCD offers benefits including flexible scheduling, vacation, holiday and sick leave.
