Subject: Yosemite Vegetation and Ecological Restoration Branch Position Announcements Seasonal and TERMS
A regional advertisement for 15 National Parks for Seasonal Biological Technicians will be open, potentially, as soon as Thursday, January 28, 2016 and open for 5 consecutive days or until 400 people have applied whichever is sooner. Instead of having to apply separately for different parks, the NPS has grouped the announcements. You can list your preferences for location and highlight your expertise important to each location in your cover letters and resumes.
GS-04/05/06/07 Seasonal Biological Science Technicians (up to 12)
In addition, we will be hiring again seasonal restoration workers and work leaders. We anticipate this announcement coming out the week of February 1. Again, be on the lookout for these announcements on www.USAjobs.gov
WG-05 Seasonal Restoration Workers (up to 12)
WL-05 Seasonal Restoration Work Leaders (up to 4)
We also anticipate announcing potentially several GS-9 positions with strengths in Wetland Delineation, Meadows, Restoration, Project Management, GIS, and database creation and management:
We at Yosemite apologize for the delay in the listing of some of our positions. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has determined that the work schedule advertised for positions of Less-Than-Full-Time (LTFT), also known as subject to furlough, were inappropriate for Term positions. Due to this determination, and at the direction of OPM and the Department of the Interior, some job announcements had to be cancelled and are being advertised again with an appropriate work schedule. The work schedule deemed appropriate for our Term positions is Mixed Tour. A Mixed Tour work schedule may include periods of Full-Time and/or Part-Time work schedules throughout each service year.
As this was a big change for our park and particularly for the Branch of Vegetation and Ecological Restoration. Our current TERMs LTFT were significantly impacted and it also impacted our budget planning. We have had to modify our original planning for positions beginning this year.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
GS-0401/1301-07/09 TERM Interdisciplinary Natural Resource Managers (up to 3)
These positions will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of vegetation and ecological restoration actions for various park projects including the Wilderness Restoration program as well as the Mariposa Grove Restoration Plan, Merced River Management Plan, and Tuolumne River Management Plan. The workload far exceeds the capacity of the current vegetation and restoration staff, and it is anticipated that some of these projects will continue for at least 4 years, and likely longer. These positions will support critical vegetation and ecological restoration efforts that will preserve and protect critical park habitat.
