The 2019 California Invasive Species Action Week is June 1-9. Its goals are to increase public awareness of invasive species issues and promote public participation in the fight against California's invasive species and their impacts on our natural resources. See our schedule of events and join one near you! Can your organization host a volunteer event, presentation or exhibit? Let us know by filling out the form on our website. We can also provide brochures and posters free of charge.  https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/CISAW.

California Invasive Species Action Week (June 1-9) includes a Youth Art Contest for students in grades 2-12. This year’s theme is “Say No To Nutria.” Entries are due May 3. Nutria are large, semi-aquatic rodents from South America; when introduced to other places, they damage wetland habitats, agricultural crops, streambanks, and levees. They have invaded California’s Central Valley and southern Delta, and their impacts may reach throughout the state. Help us make Californians aware of the danger posed by nutria. Your artwork might be an identification guide, an illustration of nutria’s biology or impacts, a public service announcement, or a graphic showing how you would search for nutria. Be creative! Full contest information is at https://www.wildlife.ca.gov/Conservation/Invasives/Action-Week/Poster-Contest.
