Morning all,
I've updated the BAA news item on this Kreutz comet:
https://britastro.org/section_news_item/c-2026-a1-maps-a-kreutz-group-sungrazer
Recent observations indicate that the most likely scenarios are a
pre-perihelion break-up, in which case we won't see anything post
perihelion, or fragmentation at perihelion in which case we might see
something like the headless comet C/2011 W3 (Lovejoy) starting around
April 9.
As with all things cometary we won't know what this comet will do until
it does it!
Observations over the next week will be critical but hard to get due to
the decreasing elongation.
Nick.
