Media access + writing using voice control and voice over Eric Salter 10 Jul 2026 01:02 UTC

Hi,

I have a client who has an undiagnosed degenerative neurological condition. She is not able to access a touchscreen or keyboard and can’t use a screen due to some visual processing impairment. She listens to a lot of podcasts and audiobooks which her staff have to start for her. She is interested in restarting creative writing, which was previously a hobby for her.

She isn’t currently using any devices, but I’m thinking that it would be relatively straightforward to have her use a combination of voice control and voice over to control media on an iOS device without touching or looking at the screen (or the equivalent accessibility functions on Windows or Android device), but I’m wondering how she could do creative writing. I think dictation of stories would be easy enough but I’m wondering how she could edit and manage her stories. Does anyone know of an app or web based service that might work for her access method?

I’m wondering if AI could work for her if she had a way to set it up to save her stories and enter prompts through speech to text.

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
