RE: (QIAT) Landline speakerphone with audio input

The Ameriphone RC200 has a dedicated 3.5mm just for a mic. New they are about $399 but they come up on ebay for about 80. The only issue is that the computer may be sending a line level signal but I think the Ameriphone could be adjusted for that. I recall it having a gain control. It can also be activated by switch.
Many of the business phones they sell at office stores and Walmart etc, have a 2.5mm headset input either on the base or the handset, . ATT ML17929 for example. but that would require an adapter and also would mean that sound would be coming out of that jack vs. the speakerphone as I don't think you can't use both speaker and headset at the same time. So you'd have to figure out how to amplify the sound out. I did something like this in the past and had a hard time getting good sound levels.
I would wonder if a simpler solution might be a decent quality external speaker for the laptop place near the existing speakerphone.

Hi,
I have a client using Grid 3 on his laptop for text to speech when making phone calls with his landline phone. Because the audio output first goes is output through the laptop speakers, then received through the speakerphone microphone, there is a loss in quality which makes the speech output difficult to understand for the person on the other end.
I'm wondering if there is a way to hard wire the audio from his device to the speakerphone. Does anyone know of a landline speaker phone with a 3.5mm audio input (or perhaps a 2.5mm headset input can be used) so that the speech output from his laptop can be connected directly to the phone while still allowing him to hear the returning connection through the speaker?
Thanks,
Eric Salter
