Equatio might be a nice option for him.  This is by TextHelp.  It has a handwriting recognition component as well as speech to text.  I really like the use of the math pad as well when solving problems.  https://www.texthelp.com/products/equatio/

⚠Caution:

I have a 10th-grade student in Algebra II who has dysgraphia.  When working on math equations, he refuses to "show his work" and will only write the answer and this is not always correct because as the equations become more advanced he needs to show his work to help with the processing.

He is very hesitant to try apps that allow for the digital expression of numbers/equation writing as I have presented them to him in the past.  He is not motivated to learn a different way to produce his work and thus wants to continue to use either pencil paper or write with his finger on the iPad when working on a digital document.

I would like to present to him a few options to consider that could help him with producing the writing required for math computations. Thank you in advance for ideas not only for apps but perhaps digital writing tools (stylus) that may allow for increased writing performance on the iPad.
